The GEO Business 2026 programme has been officially launched, offering over 150 sessions across two days focused on the application of geospatial data to real-world challenges.
The event highlights how location intelligence and next-generation GIS technologies are being applied across multiple sectors, including infrastructure, environmental management, government services, utilities and healthcare.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn directly from leading organizations such as BT, Esri, DEFRA, Mastercard, Mott MacDonald, National Trails UK, NHS, Ordnance Survey, TomTom, UK Power Networks and the World Geospatial Industry Council (WGIC).
The programme features a wide range of thematic sessions addressing emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, advanced GIS systems and data-driven decision-making processes. Among the featured presentations is a detailed geospatial analysis of the Barbican in London, illustrating the complexities involved in surveying and mapping a large-scale brutalist architectural landmark. Another session explores geospatial insights into regional digital behaviours across the United Kingdom, demonstrating how spatial data can reveal patterns in community interests.
The event also includes participatory activities such as a live “Mapathon” organized by the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team, where participants contribute to global disaster preparedness and community development projects using open mapping tools. Further sessions examine the evolving relationship between artificial intelligence and geospatial technologies, including discussions on the future of GIS, the role of AI in software engineering and the transformation of mapping processes.
Applications of geospatial data in public sector operations are also addressed, highlighting how authoritative mapping systems support security, governance and strategic decision-making. Additionally, case studies such as the National Trails Nature Hub demonstrate how GIS is used to support environmental recovery, transforming extensive trail networks into ecological corridors.
The event will take place on 3–4 june 2026 at excel London and will also feature additional programme elements, including Main Stage presentations, Demo Stage sessions and thematic roundtables. GEO Business 2026 represents a key platform for exploring innovation in geospatial technologies and their role in addressing complex societal and environmental challenges.
